Our Founder

Sello Maake ka Ncube, born Sello Maake in 1960 (He subsequently changed to Maake Ka-Ncube in honour of his stepfather who raised him) is one of South Africa's most esteemed actors and voice actors, having performed in theatre, film and television both in his native land, as well as in the USA, Britain, Canada and Europe.[2] He narrated a 2008 natural history documentary Africa's Outsiders about unusually pigmented (albino) wild animals, which was aired by Animal Planet. Ka-Ncube is known in his native country for the leading role in the long running ETV soap opera Scandal! (South Africa soap) as Lucas "Daniel" Nyathi.

Our Foundation

SMkN Foundation is a social foundation founded by Actor,Writer and Director Sello Maake ka Ncube. The foundation is an organisation aimed at creating social cohesion through the performing arts with a variety of groups that function on the premise of theatre for social development , taking necessary and appropriate messages to the community. Under the foundation, Sello Maake ka Ncube was part of the Ubuntu Initiative : Men taking responsibility campaign. The Ubuntu Initiative falls under the umbrella of the SA National Aids Council‚ and is a project by the national health department in conjunction with several municipalities. Sello Maake Ka Ncube also bags the honour of being the ambassador of the South African Breweries (SAB) #NoExcuse campaign which aims to tackle abuse against women and children. The foundation has a group of artists called Artists for Social Advocacy and Change Ensemble (ASACHE pronounced Asakhe, Zulu for Lets build). This group has been showcasing a gender based Violance play written by Sello Maake Ka Ncube in 1998 called Komeng through out Gauteng theatres to raise awareness.
